Participant packs / First support conversation

One question. Clear boundaries. A next step.

Make your first support conversation useful.

A private, printable checklist for speaking with a mentor, enterprise adviser, creative provider or community support team.

Print it or copy the prompts into your own notebook. There is no online form or account, and Build My Ikigai does not receive or store your answers. Do not upload completed notes here. Keep sensitive, confidential or identifying details out of an initial enquiry.

A conversation is not admission, funding, a contract or proof of an outcome. This is a preparation aid, not legal, medical, benefits or financial advice. You may ask questions, decline, pause or choose another route.

1. Choose one useful question

Name the decision or obstacle you want help with, your current stage and what a useful first conversation would clarify. You do not need a polished pitch or a completed ikigai diagram.

My one question

What I need to understand before choosing a next step

2. Check actual eligibility

  • □ Does my residence, local service area, age, business stage or ownership fit this specific service?
  • □ Can I use individual advice before registering a business? Which documents are genuinely required?
  • □ Is this an enquiry, a booking or an assessed application? Is there current capacity, and what happens if I am not eligible?

A country tag, public website, online format or provider account does not establish programme eligibility. A registration account is not company incorporation.

Eligibility or document question still unanswered

3. Make the format workable

  • □ Which language will the conversation use, and can the practical help be understood in that language?
  • □ What venue or remote format is offered? Confirm captions, interpretation, screen-reader access, breaks or other adjustments you actually need.
  • □ How do I request an adjustment, how much notice is needed and what information is optional? Who sees what I disclose?

Online is not automatically accessible. Website controls or a translated page do not prove an accessible appointment or a service language. Ask about the practical arrangement without sharing more personal information than needed.

The arrangement I need confirmed

4. Confirm the whole commitment

  • □ What is free, and what may cost money? Include follow-on services, travel, materials, access support and any relevant contribution, repayment or equity terms.
  • □ How long is the first session? Count preparation, waiting, travel and follow-up as well as the meeting.
  • □ Is continuing participation required? Can I pause, reschedule or leave, and are there cancellation charges?

Time and money boundary I want to protect

5. Protect information and choice

  • □ Can I begin with a general description rather than private files, passwords, bank details or confidential work?
  • □ Who will see or keep information? Will the conversation be recorded, used for publicity or processed with AI, and can I decline those uses?
  • □ Is the adviser helping me decide or selling a separate service? What must I check independently before agreeing to anything binding?

The provider has its own terms and privacy policy. Ask before sharing another person's story, community material or work you do not have authority to disclose.

What I will not share or agree yet

6. Leave with one agreed step

  • □ Can we state the action, who owns it and when to review it?
  • □ What answer or evidence is still missing, and how will it be confirmed?
  • □ Would continuing, changing, pausing or choosing another route fit better? An enquiry, application or pleasant conversation is not proof of support received.

Next action and who will take it

Review date and what would justify continuing

What remains unconfirmed

If the route is not a fit

Ask whether the provider can point to another official starting point, or compare a small shortlist. Keep a pause or no further action available; there is no need to turn this conversation into a public commitment.
